Founding in 1868, the University of California, Berkeley is simply referred as Berkeley. It was founded as the result of the combination of the private College of California and the public Agriculture, Mining, and Mechanical Arts College in Oakland, UC Berkeley is the oldest institution in the UC system. The University of California, Berkeley offers nearly 350 graduate and undergraduate degree programs in several disciplines. Since establishment, the University of California has been providing both “traditional” and “pragmatic” education & knowledge for people of the state of California. Three United States Department of Energy National Laboratories are also co-managed by the university. They are included Los Alamos National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, in addition to Lawrence Berkerly National Laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy.
